The Beauty of Symmetry and Why I Stopped Chasing It

The Lie I Believed About Balance

For the longest time, I thought beauty meant symmetry. Perfectly matched sides. Mirror images. Flawless proportions. That’s what we’re taught, right? That balance is what makes a body beautiful.

But when you live in a body with three breasts, symmetry becomes a myth — one that used to haunt me.

I would stare at my reflection and count the ways I didn’t measure up. The angles that didn’t match. The softness on one side. The curve that wasn’t mirrored. I convinced myself I had to hide it, fix it, explain it.

But here’s the truth: nature doesn’t care about symmetry. It cares about energy. And so do I.

The Moment I Stopped Wanting to Look “Even”

One day, I looked at a photo of myself and something shifted. I wasn’t focused on what was out of balance. I was drawn to what made me unique. The way light fell on my chest. The gentle slope of my third breast. The softness in my gaze — not trying to be perfect, just trying to be real.

It hit me: I don’t want to be a copy. I want to be art.

Embracing the Wild Geometry of My Body

My body tells a different kind of story. One that doesn’t fit into neat shapes. One that curves where others flatten, that adds where others subtract.

And I’ve realized that’s not a flaw — it’s a feature.

I’ve stopped chasing symmetry and started honoring the beautiful, chaotic design that is me. Because sometimes beauty is in the imbalance. In the surprise. In the unexpected.

If You’ve Ever Felt Uneven

Let this be a reminder:

You don’t have to match. You don’t have to mirror. You don’t have to shrink yourself into balance.

You can expand into your difference. You can take up space. You can be your own kind of perfect.
